The Battlegrounds To Hold First Time Mud Run Training Days

The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course, will host its first pre-race training day on Sat., March 21 and a second one on Sat., April 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Runners will preview and experience the course, which is located at 950 State Highway 00 in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue.

Assault Fitness owner Jason Rulo, who is a member of The Battlegrounds’ elite Battle Corps’ team, will lead the boot camp training. Challenges include everything from cargo net climbing and tire dragging to creek crossing and running.

The Battlegrounds next race is Sat., May 2. The course includes a 5k/3.2-mile or a five-mile option where runners will experience more than 30 military-themed obstacles. Proceeds from the May race will benefit The BackStoppers, a non-profit organization founded in 1959 to support the families of fallen heroes in the greater St. Louis region.

Barrel Aid will collect and donate racer’s shoes to their non-profit partner Mission-Haiti.org, which supplies clean shoes, fresh water, food and schooling for more than 1,600 unserved children in Southern Haiti. Operation Food Search, which is the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area, will hold a canned food drive.
