Scheduling Time for Art into Your Child's Summer Vacation

Make your summer about art!

As every parent knows, trying to get the summer schedule in order can be a daunting task. We want to make sure that not only are our children being entertained, but also challenged; that they are getting enough rest, but aren't "vegging" out in front of the t.v.; that they are getting enough play time, but aren't being over-scheduled.

This summer, take a new approach...make it about art!

Chesterfield Arts offers camps, workshops and partnership classes that can reach every child.

For kids as young as pre-kindergarten, Chesterfield Arts gets them moving, mind and body, with Paper Play and Oodles of Doodles. These week-long camps run for 2 1/2 hours a day, giving children time to create and run around.

For the elementary school students, there are even more options to choose from...from Art Exploration to Pottery to Painting to "Thinking Outside the Pencil Box"...plus a cake decorating workshop collaboration with ABC Cooking Academy

Middle School and High School students also have the opportunity to hone their creative skills with painting, pottery, sculpture and drawing, plus a Phineas & Ferb collaborative workshop with STAGES St. Louis.

Summer doesn't have to be all about camps and workshops, though. Chesterfield Arts has almost $5 million worth of public art in the city of Chesterfield. Take a stroll around Chesterfield's Central Park and you'll discover works of art by Don Wiegand, Ernest Trova and Harry Weber. Walk a little further and you'll notice a giant coming out of the ground.  The Awakening by Seward Johnson was installed in 2009 and has become a destination for many travellers and a fun place for kids of all ages to play!

Make your summer about art and discover all the art in the world around you!

Visit Chesterfield Arts' website for a complete listing of summer camps...registration will open March 7!
