Donate Your Used Home Medical Equipment on Saturday May 2 for a Tax Deduction
St. Louis, Missouri…St. Louis HELP, the not-for-profit Health Equipment Lending Program that freely loans home medical equipment to any person who needs it, is hosting a Medical Equipment Donation Drive on Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at 12 designated Walgreen parking lots.
“St. Louis HELP is looking for donations of used home medical equipment in good condition to build our inventory of the home medical equipment that we freely lend to people and families,” says Executive Director Laura Cannon Singer, who founded the nonprofit organization in 2008.

“We provide free use of virtually all types of home medical equipment to people for as long as needed and we assist thousands of people annually,” said Singer. “All donations of home health equipment are tax deductible.
“In 2014, we loaned 6,193 items including hospital beds, wheelchairs, scooters, elevated toilet seats, lift chairs, walkers, and other home health equipment that we cleaned and reconditioned.”
“In this way, we divert about 140 tons per year that would otherwise end up in the solid waste stream.”
St. Louis HELP revitalizes and cleans all donated equipment and keeps the inventory at its warehouse in Olivette before loaning it at no cost to people in need or their caregivers
“Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance don’t always cover the cost of renting or buying certain types of home medical equipment that people desperately need,” Singer said. “We provide this equipment at no charge – making the difference between living independently or living a life of dependence and immobility.”
