The St. Louis Health Equipment Lending Program (dba St. Louis HELP) will be holding an Equipment Drive.
St. Louis HELP collects such items as manual and power wheelchairs, scooters, canes, crutches, walkers, shower chairs, grab bars, portable commodes, seating cushions, back supports, van lifts, hospital beds and ramps. St. Louis HELP accepts donations of nearly every type of home medical equipment and assistive devices, except oxygen.
St. Louis HELP accepts donations of new and used home medical equipment. The equipment is cleaned and refurbished then loaned to individuals in need at no cost or fee. "The uninsured, underinsured, disabled and elderly are at particular risk of facing barriers to accessing needed home medical equipment. These vulnerable populations continue to experience reduced access to health care services demonstrating a continuing need for a strong, viable safety net," explained Dennis Guilliams, St. Louis HELP Board President.
"Why recycle and reuse these devices? It just makes common sense. It is a win/win for everyone. Improving the quality of life by giving someone in need a device that will make their life better or easier is very rewarding. We encourage the St. Louis community to clean out their attics, basements and garages to help provide people with medical equipment while protecting the environment by keeping usable equipment out of landfills," concluded Mr. Guilliams.
For more information or to donate equipment, call (314) 567-4700 or contact cannonstlhelp@yahoo.com. St. Louis HELP is a non-profit organization. All equipment and monetary donations are tax-deductible. www.stlhelp.org
