Learn How To Survive & Thrive The Teen Years

Give yourself the best holiday gift--a lifelong mother-daughter bond! Girls In The Know presents workshop retreat with bestselling authors.

Growing up in today’s culture is tough. A healthy mother-daughter relationship is more important than ever. On January 16, Girls In The Know (GITK) and sponsoring partner Express Scripts present a conversation with mother-daughter duo, Sil and Eliza Reynolds, co-authors of the bestseller Mothering and Daughtering. Keeping Your Bond Strong Through The Teen Years.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, Sil and Eliza will speak to an auditorium full of moms and pre-teen/teen daughters at Kirkwood High School. Khalia Collier, owner of the St. Louis Surge, will emcee the event. KMOV anchor Emily Rau will moderate the conversation with the author duo.

“It is our passion—indeed what feels to be a combined life purpose—to guide mothers and daughters in strengthening their bond through the teen years and beyond,” said Sil Reynolds, a nurse practitioner and psychotherapist. Sil and her daughter Eliza have been working together for more than a decade—and they don’t hold anything back!

“Preteen and teenage daughters actually want and need a close relationship with their mother,” said Eliza who is an author, dancer, speaker, and workshop leader.

Their message aligns with the mission of GITK, which educates and empowers mothers and their pre-teen daughters to encourage healthy behaviors into adulthood. “Their message is a real game changer,” “said Gina Marten, executive director of GITK.

The authors will be available for a community book reading and signing, on Sunday from 3-5 p.m., at the Eileen Fisher store in Plaza Frontenac.

GITK is also offering a two-day workshop, featuring fun, in-depth activities led by Sil and Eliza. Space is limited for this small group, so contact GITK as soon as possible if interested. The workshop will take place at Maryville University, from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, and again from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

General Admission for the Saturday headliner event is $25 for girls (10+) and $30 for moms, and the extended workshop Saturday and Sunday is $150 per person (girls 10-12). Thanks to the generosity of Express Scripts, a St. Louis-based integrated pharmacy benefit management company, event tickets will be donated to 100 5th-6th grade female students and their guardians from Earl Nance Sr. Elementary school.
