Man Found Dead After Accident on I-64 Near Chesterfield

Authorities say Richard M. Mellenbruch, 46, of Ballwin, was found dead in the car he was driving, after an accident Monday morning along Interstate 64.

According to KMOV.com,Β a man was found dead inside a Best Buy β€œGeek Squad” car on Highway 40 near the Research Park exitΒ in St. Charles CountyΒ near the Daniel Boone Bridge in Chesterfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol,Β that man is now identified asΒ Richard M. Mellenbruch, 46, of Ballwin. The MSHP crash report statesΒ Mellenbruch Β was headingΒ east on Interstate 64Β just before 9 a.m.Β Monday, when he suffered from a medical condition.Β 

The car reportedly veered left, struck the concrete median andΒ crossed back across the eastbound lanes before going off the road and stopping in a group ofΒ trees.

Mellenbruch wasΒ pronounced dead at the scene by EMS crewsΒ and noΒ one else was injured.

Authorities say Mellenbruch was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
