Grant Thornton LLP-St. Louis Women’s Group Volunteers to Feed Families in Need at St. Louis Area Foodbank

Grant Thornton LLP-St. Louis mobilized its award-winning “Women at Grant Thornton” career development initiative to help feed poor families in the St. Louis community. On Thursday, June 14, 2012, 12 employees from the accounting firm volunteered at the St. Louis Area Foodbank, packaging 1,248 cases of food totaling 41,184 pounds, enough to provide 33,620 meals. St. Louis Foodbank is the bi-state region’s largest nonprofit food distribution center.
The nationwide “Women at Grant Thornton” initiative includes programs and activities to enhance the gender diversity of the company’s workforce and mirror diversity in its senior level positions. Grant Thornton is recognized on the Working Mother “100 Best Companies” list. “Women at Grant Thornton” celebrates our growing gender diversity, a critical component to business success,” said Carolyn Harpole, director of tax for Grant Thornton. “And in our efforts, it’s a pleasure to make a meaningful impact in our community by serving an organization like St. Louis Area Foodbank that helps feed so many in need.”
