BUS TOUR PROTESTING CUTS IN VETERANS’ BENEFITS, MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY TO TRAVEL ACROSS MISSOURI”

Seniors & Veterans will Protest Billionaire Backed Bus Tour Due to Arrive at Washington University in St. Louis on September 18th with Their Own Tour

(Kansas City, MO) – Seniors and veterans will tour from Kansas City to St. Louis on September 18th and arrive at Washington University in time to stage a protest against former Clinton Comptroller David Walker’s bus tour and presentation pushing for severe cuts in Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits.  The tour will stop in Columbia at 11:30 AM (CST) for a rally and arrive at Washington University at 3:00 PM (CST) for a protest and rally.

Walker heads the “Ten Million a Minute Tour” backed by hedge fund billionaire Peter G. Peterson, which has provoked protests at its nationwide stops.  Peterson has been a long-time advocate of privatizing Social Security and Medicare.

WHAT:  Statewide bus tour and protest against billionaire-backed plan to cut Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits

WHO: The Gray Panthers will join the coalition of organizations sponsoring the tour.

WHEN:  Tuesday, September 18 – leaving Kansas City at 9:00 A.M. (CST); stopping for rally in Columbia, MO at 11:00 A.M. (CST); and arrive at Forsyth Blvd near Simon Hall at 3:00 PM (CST)

WHERE:  Lab Sciences Building at Washington University (protest on Forsyth Blvd.) ; turn into campus on Wallace Drive off of Forsyth Blvd - there is a stoplight at this intersection.
