Annette Isselhard, retiring Meramec Elementary Principal, was honored this past Friday for her dedication and contributions to the Meramec Elementary community. Staff, students and parents as well as Clayton School District officials gathered at the school to celebrate Ms. Isselhard. Interim Superintendent Sharmon Wilkinson presented Ms. Isselhard with a plaque commemorating her service to the Clayton School District. The event concluded with Meramec students singing for Ms. Isselhard followed by the release of balloons containing messages of kindness. The messages asked for those who found a balloon to perform a kind deed for another in honor of Ms. Isselhard. Ms. Isselhard began her tenure in the Clayton School District as Principal at Meramec Elementary in 2007. As Principal, her signature accomplishment has been a renewed emphasis of character development along with continued high academic achievement. The Meramec Elementary students are encouraged to embrace five core values: respect, responsibility, kindness, safety, and cooperation. Throughout her time with Meramec, Ms. Isselhard exemplified her ideal of “Each and every child, Each and every day.” Ms. Isselhard is retiring at the end of this school term in order to spend more time with her family, including her two new grandchildren.
