RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Missouri (April 24, 2013) - The Richmond Heights Memorial Library has been awarded a $2,000 federal grant to purchase nonfiction titles for children and teens in the categories of biography, computer technology, geography, health, history, and science.  A review of our youth nonfiction collections indicated that these areas were most in need of newer titles that reflected current trends and understanding.  Library patrons of all ages were also offered the chance to provide input into areas of the collection most in need of a makeover.

“We are so grateful to receive this grant money allowing us to update and enrich our collection of nonfiction books for young readers. Nonfiction is so important for homework support, for creativity, for sparking curiosity! This grant money will help our Children’s Library staff to further enrich our already splendid collection for the kids of Richmond Heights.” said Library Director Jeanette Piquet.

Purchase of these nonfiction titles is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.  To learn more about the Institute, please visit www.imls.gov.

The $2,000 federal grant monies will be used by the Richmond Heights Memorial Library to purchase nonfiction books that support the educational, recreational, and personal interest needs of youth in our area.
