Clayton, Missouri- The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) has recognized Adam Woodruff, principal of Adam Woodruff + Associates with a Merit Award for his dramatic summer seasonal displays at the Pierre Laclede Center—located in the heart of Clayton, Missouri. The award will be presented at the national symposium in Boston, Massachusetts on July 5, 2012.
Professional landscape designers and architects nation-wide compete annually by submitting landscape designs they have created to be judged for excellence. A jury of distinguished professionals in the areas of horticulture, design, and perennial plants determined which anonymous entries were worthy of an award.
Judges evaluate the designs and select the winning entries based on the creative and effective use of herbaceous perennial plant material. Entrants were encouraged to highlight new cultivars and introductions, unique planting combinations, and to illustrate the successful manipulation of color and texture in their designs. The entries were separated into categories based on residential, commercial, educational, temporary/seasonal designs, and price of production. “The Perennial Plant Association was pleased to present a Merit Award to Adam Woodruff for the 2012 PPA Landscape Award Program. The color combinations were excellent and the judges' comments indicated that Woodruff's design was a great seasonal display.” Steven Still, Executive Director, Perennial Plant Association

Mr. Woodruff has designed seasonal displays for the Pierre Laclede Center since 2010. Each spring, nearly 100 large stationary containers and several key bedding areas are planted with a unique assortment of colorful blooms, lush foliage plants and grassy elements. The displays visually unify the property, soften its vast hardscape and bring a human scale to the public plazas. Additionally, the displays enhance how the center's tenants, their clients and the community experience the space.
This is Mr. Woodruff’s second award from the PPA. Photos of his award winning designs can be found at www.adamwoodruff.com.
