Eight artists will create collaborative artwork LIVE at St. Louis Artists' Guild's "Bells and Bowls"

Bells and Bowls is a unique holiday celebration at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. During Bells and Bowls, guests will experience the artistic process LIVE while watching two teams of artists create collaborative, round-robin style paintings. These paintings will be auctioned off by Ivey-Selkirk’s Mark Howald in a live auction at the end of the evening. There will be six completed paintings at the end of the evening … any one of them would make for an excellent gift for an art-lover in your life!

Featured artists painting live during Bells and Bowls include: 

• David Chappell: An artist and illustrator living in Dogtown in Forest Park. He is a co-founder of Fusion: Creative With Purpose, an artists’ community within the Journey, a local St. Louis church. 

• Jo Ann Kargus: Kargus has been a professional illustrator in St. Louis for over thirty years. She currently co-owns her company Whitesitt Kargus Studio. Her illustration work is primarily architectural renderings, marker comps, and murals.

• Bryan Haynes: The commercial work of Bryan Haynes has graced the pages of national magazines, international advertisting, CD covers, posters, and book covers. Since graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1983, his artwork has been represented by Bernstein & Andriulli in New York, Ron Sweet in San Francisco, and Foster Represents in St. Louis. Some of his many patrons have included Disney, Estee Lauder, Warner Bros., Toblerone—Switzerland, Universial Studios, IBM, Nike, Sony Music Corp., and Anheuser Busch. Gallery representation includes the Kodner Gallery of St. Louis, Billy Hork Gallery (Chicago), Touch of Class Gallery (Wildwood), Augusta Wood Ltd. Gallery (Augusta, MO), American Legacy Gallery (Kansas City, MO), Soho Arts South of Palm Beach, FL.

• Deanna Nash: When Nash was an art student at Washington University, she studied the mediums and techniques of the old masters and primed herself to be a draftsman. As a Fine Artist as these years later, Deanna stands firm on that foundation and continues to build her own body of work through the use of classic and modern mediums and personalized styles. Nash regularly teaches classes in painting, drawing, and composition at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. 

• Lisa Ober: A professional portrait artist specializing in pastel and oil portraits. Ober is most known for her ability to capture the likeness and personality of her subjects with a finely executed attention to detail and a fondness for realism. She co-owns Ober Anderson Gallery in Kirkwood, MO, which exhibits her portrait and still life work along with other permanent resident artists. 

• Henryk Ptasiewicz: Ptasiewicz came to the United States in 1999, and has worked as an artist ever since, painting corporate and private portraits, painting around the country in plein air events, organizing parties, making the props for them. He also turned to figure sculpting and portraiture.

• Bob Shay: Shay was a Principal and Creator of the original Studio X Creative in St. Louis, MO. Located in a turn-of-the-century portrait studio, Shay and his associates combine old school drawing skills and new school tech to create a plethora of original work for commercial clients, agencies, and private commissions.

• David R. Zamudio: As a graduate of the Graphique Art Institute of St. Louis, Missouri, he earned a certificate in Commercial Art in 1978 and later pursed technical illustration and design studies at the St. Louis Community College. Zamudio worked as a technical illustrator for private studios and military contractors. He continues his illustration career as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. His cartoons and illustration work have been published in various media including St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Suburban Journals of St. Louis, Savvy Family Magazine, and St. Louis Best Bridal magazine.
  
  

In addition, there will be five tasting stations scattered throughout the St. Louis Artists’ Guild’s building, serving soups donated by local restaurants. The participating restaurants in this year’s Bells and Bowls are:

• Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina

There will also be food and beverages provided by: Catering St. Louis, Chauvin Coffee Roasting Company, Clayton’s Bakery and Deli, Frostbite Gourmet Ice Cream, and Urban Chestnut Brewing Company.
