St. Louis Based Church Expands Its Roots This Easter
March 6, 2013: ST LOUIS, MO The Gathering United Methodist Church believes it is time to grow up and go out. For Easter 2013, the church has decided to change the look of its Easter celebration by hosting worship services in four neighborhoods.
Lead Pastor Rev. Matt Miofsky explains, “For the past five years we have gathered in one big place for worship.” The church celebrated Easter in Forest Park for two years and then moved to The Pageant in University City. “Those were some incredible experiences,” says Miofsky, “but we are ready to shake things up.” Miofsky goes on to say, “Last year we gathered. This year we are going to scatter.”
On the last weekend in February, Rev. Miofsky shared with his congregation the story of Jesus sending a group of seventy people into nearby towns and villages. The story is found in the tenth chapter of the Gospel of Luke. “This year, I want us to have a Luke 10 kind of experience,” Miofsky said.
The Gathering will create compelling worship experiences in the Webster/Kirkwood neighborhood as well as in the Soulard/Lafayette area. Identical worship and Family Ministry will also be offered at the church’s two sites—in St. Louis’ Franz Park neighborhood and in Clayton. Worship times, location details and more information can be found on The Gathering’s website, www.gatheringnow.org
The Gathering has been creating a Christian community that is compelling for new generations of people in St Louis since 2006 and is the only church in the St. Louis area to offer a multi-site church experience. Visit us atwww.gatheringnow.org.
