This event begins with a short presentation by Guy Niere, a backyard chicken instructor for St Louis Community College and sustainable living enthusiast. Mr. Niere will discuss chicken coop considerations, how to select chickens, and preparations to make for arriving chicks and their ongoing care.
After the presentation, a panel will answer questions from the audience. Panelists include Mr. Niere plus:
+ Laura Streett, a Richmond Heights resident and backyard chicken owner. She also brings a wealth of information about chickens from her work at The Green Center in University City.
+ Rochelle Skolnick, a labor lawyer and musician who recently added a small flock of laying hens to her family’s intensively fruit and vegetable-planted yard in Richmond Heights.
+ Additional panelist to be announced.
