Are You Walking in Your Parent(s) Shadow?
Letting Go Of Parent(s) Expectations and Being True to Yourself

Most of us first develop expectations of self based on our parent(s) or caregivers. if our parent(s) were high achievers we will strive for excellence. However, some of us will rebel against our parent(s) shadows. When our parent(s) do not hold expectations we may not value ourselves enough to have any for ourselves.
Adults who allow parents to significantly influence their lives may not be fully aware of it. However, this may be greatly limiting their choices. For example, a woman who aligns with one presidential candidates values but votes for another based on negative reminders of their father. She is allowing the past to influence her choices today. She may not be aware that she still walks in her father's shadow by rebelling.
Making connections between those whose shadow(s) we are living in and being true to ourselves can enhance our lives twofold.
