The Old Orchard Gallery, 39 "B" South Old Orchard, Webster Groves, MO, 63119, 314-961-4433 offers exhibits in art, architecture, and history.
"33 Artists", April 20-May 2, offered something for everyone. The variety of art works is outstanding, from colorful still-life oil of fruits (Donna Hasegawa), to 60's pop art like "Young and Pissed Off" (Jim Horne, www.jimsdances.com ), to futuristic digital architectural abstracts (Derek R. Lauer, AIA). Lauer's "Octave Gone" was done "to create a visual representation of the reflection of sound through the use of the reflection of light".
Every few weeks a new show is mounted. Artists can show a maximum of three pieces or hang their works in a 2' x 3' space (six square feet). The pieces range from very affordable like Darlene Boyd's earrings, "All Eyes on You" @ $30.00 or "Tribal Effect" (marble spike beads/stainless steel, gold tone hoops) @ $40.00, to Matt Keim's exquisite 6' x 2' "Table" (cocobolo and maple woods. $2,900.00).

There is even a little bit of the rural in the exhibit. Gene Ursprung's pastoral oil landscapes with Fauvist colors are noteworthy and "Old Alton", is priced at $500.00. Jeff Zarinelli, www.midwestmurals.com, has three lightning photos which "have not been manipulated in any way" and are priced at $125.00/each.
Mark McDonnell of Blacksnake Furniture has two quirky but functional end-tables and his illuminated horizon-line, "All That You Dream" (olive, acrylic, plywood, fir @ $1,300.00) looks like a desert landscape or a snakeskin against an indigo-black sky. Mr McDonnell's studio is in Wildwood and he says there is always a blacksnake hanging around its premises.
