LIfe's a Peach

It's no coincidence that quotes with the word peach in them usually say something good about life. The term has come to mean that which is particularly good, sweet, fair and excellent.  Just like the fruit itself.

"Life is better than death, I believe, if only because it is less boring and it has fresh peaches in it" wrote Thomas Walker.  High praise for a simple fruit. Yet such usage has grown common over time. "You're a peach" and "peachy keen" are definitely compliments. Thank you very much!

Nothing tastes like a peach. That's why seasonal shopping and eating is so exciting.  My taste buds went on high alert when I receive calls from Kim at Eilerman Bros Orchards and Agnes at Kamp Orchards to announce that the peaches are ripe and they're bringing them to market.

Even though "life is not all peaches and cream", it's made a litte easier when there's something so profoundly delicious as a peach.  Whether it's peach desserts
like pie or ice cream; peaches on the side in a salsa or chutney; peaches in the
morning on yogurt or cereal; or simply enjoying a fresh peach all by itself, life is better with a peach.  Mmmm, the best!
