Clayton Bank Branch Raises Funds for Pets

M&I Bank's East Branch held the fundraiser in early June.

Clayton's M&I Bank East Branch raised funds earlier this month to benefit pets in Missouri.

The bank sold $3 bags of chocolate-covered strawberries to benefit Dirk's Fund, a golden retriever rescue, and Open Door Animal Sanctuary. Nearly half of the 100 bags available had been sold shortly before noon June 9, said Ryan Lane, a personal banker. Most donors work in the 101 S. Hanley Rd. building, where the bank is located.

"They could use a donation," said Brender Benson, branch manager and assistant vice president. The bank holds various fundraisers throughout the year and has given to these two groups for the last three years, she said.

Those who purchased three bags received a plush dog. The pooch, called Mattie, is the bank's mascot.

Last year, the bank branch gathered food, toys and other supplies.
