Walgreens employees reported a man stole several packs of cigarettes from the store early Wednesday morning.

For the reporting period of Monday, July 27th – Sunday, August 2nd, CPD officers responded to 347 calls for service, including 12 automobile accidents and 25 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Officers responded to the 200 block of S. Bemiston Tuesday afternoon after the building manager of an office building discovered the aftermath of a burglary. Sometime overnight, someone damaged a storage closet in the building & stole property from within.
Passersby reported a man was walking on the highway after dark Tuesday night. Officers contacted the man who provided false identification information. Officers learned the man had multiple warrants for his arrest through other agencies & was in possession of a large quantity of suspected stolen jewelry. Investigation is ongoing.

Late Tuesday night, a CPD officer was on patrol in the area of Clayton Rd. & S. Hanley when he observed a vehicle traveling down the road with a flat tire. While attempting to assist the motorist, the officer discovered the driver was operating her vehicle while intoxicated, leading to her arrest.

On Wednesday at 6:15 am, officers located a male and female subject sleeping in a stolen vehicle on the CVS parking lot. The vehicle was reported as stolen out of St. Louis County Tuesday night. It was later determined they were under the influence of a controlled substance. Due to their condition, EMS personnel transported them to a local hospital for treatment. While conducting an inventory of the stolen vehicle, officers located drug paraphernalia, suspected crack cocaine & an AR-15 pistol. Investigation continues.
A business on the 7400 block of Forsyth was burglarized on Thursday evening. On Sunday at 3:00 am, an officer interrupted a suspect rummaging through unlocked vehicles in the alley to the rear of 6300 S. Rosebury. The suspect fled the area in a silver Mazda 6. The investigation revealed that the suspect had rummaged through two unlocked vehicles parked in the alley.
On Sunday, a resident on the 8100 block of Kingsbury reported a wallet stolen from an unlocked vehicle. A neighbor’s surveillance video showed a subject checking door handles at 4:55 am on Sunday morning.
