City Of Clayton's Weekly Police Incident Report (May 25-31)

For the reporting period of Monday, May 25th - Sunday, May 31st, CPD officers responded to 339 calls for service, including 9 automobile accidents and 22 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

A vehicle was stolen from the parking garage of an apartment building sometime between Sunday night & Monday evening. The owner reported the vehicle was unlocked & the keys were left inside. The vehicle was recovered in the city of St. Louis Friday evening.

Employees at DGX reported a man known to them stole merchandise from the store Thursday afternoon. He fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

Later Thursday morning, a man stole numerous personal hygiene items from CVS. Officers located him nearby & the merchandise was recovered. He was arrested for the theft & possession of drug paraphernalia.

After reviewing surveillance footage Thursday afternoon, property management for a building in the central business district discovered a man broke the parking garage gate when he manually lifted the gate arm the previous weekend. Contact was made with the responsible subject & he is working with the business to pay for the damage.

A woman reported locking the doors to her vehicle when she parked in a public garage Thursday morning. However, when she returned to the vehicle Thursday afternoon, she discovered the vehicle was unlocked & her wallet & its contents were missing.

Thursday evening, a resident reported a vehicle was stolen from the roadway in front of his residence. The vehicle is not regularly used & the reporting party last recalled seeing the vehicle Monday afternoon. Investigation is ongoing.

Early Friday morning, hotel staff reported banning a subject from their establishment & watching him enter an office building across the street. Officers searched the building & discovered a homeless subject trespassing inside an unoccupied office suite. The subject is believed to have been using the suite as his personal residence & caused extensive damage to the property.

Lastly, a large group gathered in the area of Clayton Rd. & S. Brentwood Blvd. Sunday evening. As the group dispersed, full water bottles & commercial grade fireworks were thrown at officers & reports were received of gunfire in the area (no injuries were reported). A small group continued northbound toward Wilson Lighting where they caused damage to both the exterior of the building & a portion of the inventory.
