For the reporting period of Monday, July 6th - Sunday, July 12th, CPD officers responded to 322 calls for service, including 6 automobile accidents & 30 calls to assist the CFD. Many of these calls occurred in the overnight or early morning hours & involved unlocked vehicles with valuables & keys left inside. Early Monday morning, residents in the Clayton Gardens Neighborhood discovered 2 unlocked vehicles had been rummaged through overnight. Taken from the vehicles were a wallet & cash. The wallet was recovered nearby minus the currency.
For the second time this year, the multi-family mailbox unit located in a N. Meramec condo building was damaged by force. A resident heard a ruckus in the lobby area Monday night, but could not reach the lobby before the culprit fled the building.
A resident of Tuscany Park was awoken early Tuesday morning after his surveillance system alerted him to subjects attempting to enter his vehicle. While checking the area, officers discovered a neighbor’s vehicle with the door standing open. The vehicle had been rummaged through & cash was taken.
Officers responded to the DeMun area early Thursday morning after a property owner was alerted to someone at their building. Upon arrival CPD officers discovered a juvenile trespassing on the property. The juvenile was in possession of several items which did not belong to him. Additional investigation revealed the juvenile obtained those items after burglarizing a home in the Hillcrest Neighborhood & stealing from multiple unlocked vehicles in the same area. The juvenile was arrested & his case has been referred to the St. Louis County Family Court.
A resident in the 200 block of N. Meramec returned her apartment Thursday evening & discovered several personal items were missing. The resident was in the process of moving back into the apartment after a brief departure & the building owner contracted a cleaning service to clean the unit prior to the resident moving back in. Investigation is ongoing.
A traffic stop in the area of S. Hanley & Shirley late Thursday night resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI.
Early Friday morning, a resident of the 200 block of S. Brentwood discovered his vehicle had been stolen from the building’s garage. He believed the vehicle had been locked but stated he left what he thought was a non-functioning key fob inside the vehicle overnight. The vehicle was recovered a few hours later in Ferguson. A second, unlocked, vehicle in the same garage was rifled through, but nothing was taken. Building management reported the garage door usually secured but was malfunctioning & had been left open overnight. Investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to the 6300 block of N. Rosebury Saturday morning after residents discovered both of their vehicles were broken into overnight. The 1st vehicle was left unlocked while entry was gained into the 2nd vehicle by damaging a rear window. Taken were gift cards & tools.
Lastly, a resident in the 7500 block of Wellington Way parked his vehicle on the street in the early morning hours Saturday. When he returned in the afternoon, he discovered the vehicle was missing. The resident is still in possession of both sets of his keys but believed a valet key may have been left in the vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.
