A CPD officer was on patrol in the 7700 block of Davis Dr. early Tuesday morning when he observed an unoccupied vehicle with it’s dome light illuminated. Closer examination revealed the vehicle had been rummaged through. Officers located 4 additional vehicles in the neighborhood which had been rummaged through & they recovered 2 purses found discarded in the street. The purses were later returned to their owners.

Last week we reported a man followed a woman from Shaw Park into her secured apartment building. Tuesday afternoon, CPD Officers responded to Shaw Park after parkgoers reported the same man exposed himself to them. The man was arrested for sexual misconduct 1st degree & trespassing (reference last week's report). He remains in custody reference a separate charge of sexual misconduct 1st degree which occurred in a different jurisdiction.

Late Tuesday night, a man removed over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Walgreens display case before leaving the store without attempting to pay for the products. Store employees believed the same man is responsible for additional thefts from the store.

A Fontbonne Security Officer observed a group of teens setting off fireworks in the university parking lot early Sunday morning. She directed them to leave & followed them in her vehicle. As they were leaving the property one of the teens used his fists to damage her vehicle. The group was no longer on scene when officers responded & investigation is ongoing.

Later Sunday morning, a CPD Officer was on patrol in the area of Concordia Lane when he observed a subject known to officers driving a vehicle. The man is known to be homeless & does not own or regularly have access to a vehicle. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported as stolen from Jefferson County & the man had no legal right to be in possession of it. He was arrested for tampering 1st degree.

Finally, A traffic stop in the Moorlands neighborhood Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana & possession of drug paraphernalia.

As temperatures remain in the 90s this week it’s a good time to remember to check on each other (from a safe distance). Learn what’s normal for your neighbors & neighborhood. Reporting any concerns or suspicious activity as soon as possible can be the key to quickly rendering aid & has the bonus effect of stopping or preventing crime. #SeeSomethingSaySomething.

Until next week, stay safe everyone!
