Clayton Weekly Police Incident Report: May 11th - 17th

Now for your weekly police incident report. For the reporting period of Monday, May 11th – Sunday, May 17th, CPD officers responded to 258 calls for service including 7 automobile accidents & 26 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Monday morning, a maintenance supervisor discovered a man stole toiletries, cleaning supplies & paper goods from a building in the central business district on 2 separate occasions over the weekend.

Last week we reported Hertz Car Rental employees were attempting to recover a rental vehicle. Monday evening, St. Louis Metropolitan PD located the vehicle in their jurisdiction. The driver/renter was arrested for failure to return the vehicle.

In response to a 911 hang up call from the S. Meramec Metro Bus station Thursday morning, officers located a female wearing a City of Clayton employee jacket. The woman is not an employee of the city & she was arrested for theft after confessing to stealing the jacket & other items from a city owned vehicle.

Later Thursday morning, a woman stole nearly $200 worth of merchandise from Straub’s. She was last seen leaving the area in a silver sedan.

A resident discovered her identity had been fraudulently used to obtain utilities after she was contacted by a collection agency Friday morning. The utilities were listed on an out of state residence with no connection to the reporting party. Later Friday morning, a resident discovered their vehicle had been stolen from their driveway. A family member’s wallet was left inside the vehicle & their bank cards had been fraudulently used for purchases in the overnight hours. Investigation is ongoing.

Friday evening, a CPD officer was on patrol in the area of Shaw Park Dr. & S. Central when he observed graffiti on 2 of the streetlamps in the area. No further damage was located.

Officers were called to the central business area Saturday afternoon after receiving reports of an escaped prisoner running loose in the area. The subject was located & officers quickly discovered he was wearing a costume comprised of a replica prison jumpsuit & fake, plastic handcuffs. After confirming the man had not committed any crimes & was not a harm to himself or others, officers sent him on his way with the suggestion to save the costume for Halloween.

Finally, accompanied by 2 male friends, a woman responded to the residence of a male acquaintance Saturday afternoon in reference to an incident which is alleged to have occurred overnight in another jurisdiction. The confrontation turned physical & resulted in the arrest of the acquaintance for assault 4th.
