On Tuesday I received a call from a Dad living in Arizona. He called to see if we had tomatoes at the Clayton Farmer's Market yet. Apparently he and his wife used to live in St. Louis and he remembered the abundance of fresh vine-ripened tomatoes that could be found at our Market on Saturday mornings.
He also remembered the flavor of those tomatoes and was hoping his daughter could bring some when she comes to visit for Father's Day. Even though they're enjoying retirement in the "Grand Canyon State"--the tomatoes aren't the same.
This is what Farther's Day is about--the simple things in life that revolve around family----and great tasting tomatoes! Or things like them anyway. That's why it's hard to say that just one day is great for Dad's at a Farmer's Market, because we celebrate the simple goodness that life has to offer every week.
But if you have to choose a way to make a day special for your Dad or if you're a Dad like the one who phoned from Arizona, stop by the Clayton Farmer's Market today---or have someone stop by for you and pick up some sun-ripened goodness in the form of midwest grown fruits and veggies.
