Some poetry is written to be read on paper, other poetry is written to be read aloud. The modern concept of Poetry Slams - competitive spoken word - began in the 1980s at Chicago’s Green Mill Cocktail Lounge.
Come join us for an evening of non-competitive performance poetry with several St. Louis area Slam Poets. The evening will be hosted by John "Gavroche" Newmark and Jenifer "Rimona" Wallace. Gavroche began competing at the late Wabash Triangle Café's poetry slam in the fall of 1992. Rimona is a newcomer to the art form.
