The evening length performance, ‘Conversations in Concert’, will be the pilot performance of LeverEdge, aTrek’s new company structure. Created through a collaborative process, Conversations in Concert explores the physicalization of conversations, both abstract and representational on the topic of women’s unique experiences. Amidst quirky anecdotes about teenage courtship and a discussion of cycles of violence, the dance-makers have found fertile ground in which to explore themes of ‘women’s work’, habit, pattern, humor, insecurity, fear, love, community and commonality. By focusing on a process of encouraging individual growth and community development, LeverEdge has culled a piece in which gesture, stillness, and storytelling thread through fluid contemporary dance sequences.
