On the Cusp is a solo exhibition by Denise Schilling (http://finearts.fontbonne.edu/~dschilling/), the St. Louis Artists' Guild's Spring 2012 Photography Artist-in-Residence. In this exhibition, Schilling will present a series of photographs exploring the psyches of teenage girls transitioning from childhood to maturity. All of these photographs were printed on site in the St. Louis Artists' Guild's darkroom.
Regarding her subject matter, Schilling says: "There is a fragment of time where girls, wrought with an influx of new emotions, new concerns, and new fears go through a very delicate process of definition. To find and be happy with what they are becoming, all while dancing between adult and juvenile, proves to be quite a challenge."
