Relief Printmaking

Eight week course beginning June 5, continuing through July 24.
Meets on Wednesdays, 6pm to 8:30pm.

This class is open to Beginning and Advanced level printmakers, and will focus on handcarved relief prints, with wood and linoleum (or similar type of blocks). Students will learn about printing with multiple print blocks. The class will primarily cover: preparing a design to be printed, going from the drawing to the print block, carving the blocks, preparing paper, determining the proper use of inks, learning how to print on a press, basic registration techniques, and how to plan & print an edition. We will work with waterbased inks. Students should bring print design ideas: drawings, sketches, printouts & photos. Advanced printmakers may also bring print blocks that they already have carved, if they wish to work with those during the course. This class is for students 18+.
