
Gateway Gallery in Clayton presents its January exhibit, “Sunrise-Sunset,” featuring the work of gallery member Meg Matson. The exhibit runs Jan. 4 through Feb. 17. The artist’s reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 20 also marks the grand opening of Gateway Gallery’s new location at 21 N. Bemiston.guest artist Lisa Crisman will be showing pastel landscapes.
Matson is traditionally a non-representational, abstract painter. However, the pieces in “Sunrise-Sunset” represent a distinct departure in their more representational quality. “I have never seen an ugly sunset,” Matson said as she described her inspiration behind this collection. “Some naturally are more striking than others, but they are always beautiful and rejuvenating.”
