Under Pressure Exhibition Series

Under Pressure is an exhibition series showcasing contemporary print works. The five exhibits in this series will emphasize the ever-expanding world of printmaking. Highlights include a solo exhibition and workshop by Dan Welden, innovator and guru of the Solarplate printmaking process, and Past Present, an exhibit of international artists exploring the language of printmaking’s past to reveal ideas about the past or future, curated by Printeresting founders Jason Urban, Amze Emmons and R.L. Tillman.

Under Pressure coincides with the Southern Graphics Council International (SGCI) Conference, hosted by Washington University from March 16–19, 2011. There will be a special reception for the Under Pressure exhibition series during the SGCI Conference on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm. The SGC International is an educational non-profit organization committed to representing artists of original prints, drawings, books, and handmade paper and increasing public appreciation of these arts. The theme of the 2011 SGCI Conference in St. Louis is “Equilibrium,” and “printmaking’s timeless ability to absorb and balance complementary forces within the landscape of the field.”
