The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) will offer free five-minute neck and shoulder massages to the public during the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs game in Ford Plaza (behind outfield seating, inside Gates 5 & 6) as part of its second annual cross-country mobile tour raising awareness of the health benefits of massage.
AMTA massage therapists will be available for massages and provide information to the public about the health benefits of massage, which research has shown benefits people of all ages for a variety of medical conditions. In addition to relieving symptoms associated with chronic lower-back pain, osteoarthritis of the knee, inflammation after exercise and fibromyalgia, recent studies have suggested that massage can be a helpful aid for manually controlling symptoms in people suffering metastatic cancer and rheumatoid arthritis, among other illnesses, as well as post-cardiac surgery pain.
AMTA is a professional association of 56,000 members. AMTA professional members have demonstrated a level of skill and knowledge through education and/or testing and must meet continuing education requirements to retain membership.
If you can’t make it to the Cardinals vs. Cubs game, find a local qualified massage therapist through AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist® free national locator service available at www.findamassagetherapist.org.
