Fifth
Third Bank will share the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Mobile (eBus) with
MCTC at four local sites. Fifth Third will help individuals review their credit
reports and discuss budgeting and savings tips while MCTC’s IRS-trained
Preparers will help individuals accurately prepare and e-file their income
taxes. All services are free of charge. Royce Sutton, Fifth Third Bank
Community and Economic Development Director stated, “Many families are dealing
with financial hardship from job loss and some have been victimized by
untrained, high cost income tax preparers. We couldn’t think of a better time
for the Fifth Third Bank eBus and MCTC to forge a partnership that will help families
maximize their eligible deductions and tax credits while having the benefit of obtaining
sound financial advice, at no cost.”
Participants can also learn about the Doorways to Dreams Fund. Doorways
to Dreams is sponsoring a nationwide sweepstakes to encourage saving at tax
time. Beginning this 2014 tax season, all filers age 18 and over who are due a
federal tax refund and save a portion of that refund using IRS Form 8888 can
enter the promotion to win weekly prizes and a grand prize of $25,000.
