The president of Fontbonne University, Dr. Dennis Golden, has announced plans to retire in 2014.
The school will hold a search for Β a new leader to replace Golden, who has been with the Catholic university since 1995.
In aΒ statement to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Golden called his work a labor of love.
"As I reflect on 47 years in higher education, I can say with certainty that my journey has been both a career path and a calling," Golden said, in a statement. "Here at Fontbonne, it is also a labor of love because we constantly strive to develop our students into global citizens who are competent, ethical and prepared to serve a world in need."
