St. Louis Cardinals mascot Fredbird is a special guest at the Webster Groves Farmers Market this Thursday, June 13. The popular Redbird will greet guests, sign autographs and "pitch for produce" - encouraging kids and adults to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. The Webster Groves Farmers Market is held at Gazebo Park, Big Bend Boulevard at S. Old Orchard every Thursday from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. This week, Fredbird will appear from 5:30 p.m. until close. The June 13 market will be devoted to kids with a special kid's cooking class presented by Les Dames d'Escoffier from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Webster Groves Library is booked into the community tent to sign kids up for its summer reading program. And, in honor of Fredbird, kids can create a free, baseball-themed craft and take part in bean bag toss and hula hoop games. Shoppers can find fresh broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, cucumbers, lettuces, kale, turnips, strawberries, onion, zucchini and other locally grown produce. Follow the market on Facebook or visit the website at www.WebsterGrovesFarmersMarket.com.
