Moten Named President and Chief Investment Officer of St. Louis-Based BYW Investment Advisors, Inc.

John Moten has joined BYW Investment Advisors, Inc. (BYW) as president and chief investment officer. Based in St. Louis, Mo., BYW, an acronym for Building Your Wealth, manages global and international equity portfolios for institutions and high-net-worth families. The minority-owned firm is committed to donating a minimum of 10% of its net profits to organizations working to improve the prospects of young people living in under-serviced communities.

Moten has more than 30 years of experience as an investment analyst and portfolio manager. Prior to joining BYW, he was vice president of investor relations for Mallinckrodt, PLC where he developed the department in preparation for its listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2013.

Previously, he was a director of MacKay Shields, a division of New York Life Investment Management, where his team managed a $2+billion portfolio of global convertible bonds after serving as an analyst and portfolio manager for MacKay’s Morningstar 5-star rated Mainstay International Equity Fund.

Moten earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Lawrence University in Canton, New York and his MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, in Chicago, Illinois.
