Movie Review - Fantastic Four

Comic heroes' origin story reveals new superpower - boring their enemies to death

Fantastic Four * (out of 5) (PG-13) Applying Truth in Advertising principles to title of the latest f/x opus from the pages of Marvel Comics, they deliver on the Four, but fall woefully short on the Fantastic. Of all the superhero flicks flooding theaters for the last decade, this may be the dullest. There’s nothing wrong with the idea of an origins story. But this seems far longer than it’s running time, with humorless script and a bland cast that couldn’t have included many of the producers’ first choices for the roles.

Eminently missable. To prove the point, unless he showed up in a post-credits clip I had no desire to wait for, there wasn’t even a Stan Lee cameo! If he ain’t goin’, neither should you. (8/7/15)
