MRH Board Actively Searching For New Superintendent

A Message to the Community from the MRH Board of Education

"MRH families, it’s time for an end-of-year update on our active search for the next permanent superintendent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District.

Utilizing the feedback which so many of you provided via surveys early this semester, the executive search firm HYA & Associates -- in conjunction with the MRH Board of Education -- created a Leadership Profile as a guide for identifying appropriate candidates for the superintendent’s position. The profile was based on valuable input from a wide array of District stakeholders: parents, school employees, business owners, faith leaders, students, elected officials, nonprofits and many more. Prior to the mid-November deadline for submissions, we received 19 completed applications from 4 states for this most important post. Applying the Leadership Profile criteria, HYA & Associates presented a slate of 6 candidates for consideration and interviews by the MRH Board. Today, we can announce that the field has been narrowed to 2 candidates. Additional interviews are necessary; those will be conducted very soon and we hope to complete the process within a matter of weeks.

We want to thank you once again for your deep level of investment in this search process. Our executive search firm recently reported that in their work with other school districts, rarely have they seen such a massive outpouring of community feedback (700 MRH surveys returned!) Three themes emerged: you want a superintendent dedicated to community, equity and quality. This Board hears you and pledges to select the best possible candidate to become the next superintendent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District."
