Seat-Belt Crackdown Begins Monday in Clayton, Richmond Heights
The Click It or Ticket campaign is sponsored by the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety.

Clayton police will be paying special attention to seat-belt violations beginning Monday through June 5 as part of Missouri's Click It or Ticket campaign, the city stated in a news release.
"Every day someone dies in a crash in Missouri because they weren't buckled ," Chief Tom Byrne of the stated in the release. "We will be pulling out all the stops to ensure motorists are buckling up."
Seven out of 10 people killed in Missouri traffic crashes were not using a buckled seat belt, the release states.
About three-quarters of Missourians wear seat belts, the website of the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety states. That's below the national average of 85 percent. Sixty-six percent of Missouri teenagers wear the devices.

The traffic unit of the also will be cooperating in the campaign, Sgt. Doug Schaeffler said.
A similar campaign February resulted in the ticketing of more than 230 people who were not wearing seat belts in the St. Louis metro area, a release from the Missouri Department of Transportation states.
