Ten Numbers to Know About Richmond Heights Traffic Accidents in January

Nearly 13 percent of accidents reported last month happened between 1 and 1:59 p.m.

The recently posted three documents to its Web site that detail traffic accidents that happened in the city in January. One ranks the number of accidents by location; another identifies the time of day and day of the week on which accidents happened; and the final file describes the severity of each accident.

Here are 10 numbers to know from those reports:

  • 0 — Fatal accidents in Richmond Heights
  • 62 — Total accidents to which the department responded
  • 15 — Injuries that resulted from accidents
  • 51 — Cases that involved only property damage
  • $1.36 million — Estimated losses, in dollars, caused by lost productivity and expenses resulting from accidents in the city
  • 8 percent — Percentage of accidents that happened on Mondays and Saturdays, the lowest-accident day of the week
  • 19.4 percent — Percentage of accidents that happened on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the highest-accident days of the week
  • 12.9 percent — Percentage of accidents that happened between 1 and 1:59 p.m., the highest-accident time of day
  • 16 — Total number of accidents recorded by Richmond Heights police for Highway 40. It had the highest volume of accidents in January out of any road documented by the police.
  • 9 — Total number of accidents in which a person is suspected of having left the scene
