Tennis Professionals Teach Mini-Swingers in Richmond Heights
World-class players such as Liezel Huber and Jean-Julien Rojer set up at The Boulevard-Saint Louis on Saturday for a clinic geared toward children ages 6 to 10.
One hundred children took advantage of tennis lessons from St. Louis Aces professional tennis players on Saturday morning at The Boulevard-Saint Louis in Richmond Heights.
Organizers drew mini-courts onto the parking lot, and the little players received a racquet and tickets to an Aces match.
Maria Sanchez, a top college player from the University of Southern California; Liezel Huber, who has won four Grand Slam doubles titles; Jean-Julien Rojer, a doubles specialist who played at Wimbledon this year; and Roman Borvanov, a professional player from Moldova, each took an age group and worked on strokes, the ready position and hitting.

Organizers are aiming to grow interest in tennis through a grassroots effort, team coach Rick Leach said. The tennis professionals packed up and went to the Dwight F. Davis Memorial Tennis Center in Forest Park for another session after the hourlong gathering in Richmond Heights.
