Update: The Search For MRH's Next Superintendent Of Schools

Nearly 600 community members, school employees and other stakeholders contributed valuable feedback in recent weeks as the search continues for the next superintendent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. Focus group findings and survey results will become part of a Leadership Profile Report submitted to the Board of Education by the executive search firm HYA & Associates.

Current superintendent Dr. Karen I. Hall announced in June that she will retire from the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District following the 2020-2021 school year. At the time of her departure, she will have served in public education for nearly 30 years, 13 of those at MRH. Dr. Hall plans to explore opportunities for consulting, teaching, and running her late father’s business.

Representatives from HYA will deliver a written executive summary and slide presentation on the feedback during the Board's October 15 meeting. The recent survey was distributed community-wide while HYA representatives interviewed a wide array of groups and individuals including teachers, parents, administrators. civic and business leaders, clergy and PTO officials.   • What strengths do they desire to retain and build upon?
  • What are the issues this District currently faces, and will be facing in the next three to five years?
  • What are the personal and professional characteristics you and your community expect a superintendent to possess?
  • Anyone to recommend?

The MRH superintendent vacancy is posted on the HYA website. The deadline for candidates to submit applications is November 1, 2020. Next up is the recruiting phase and a thorough review of all applications received.
