News Release

HICKEY COLLEGE INSTUCTORS CONTIBUTE TO RESUME WRITING TEXTBOOK

St. Louis, Mo. – April 10, 2012 – The fourth edition of The Resume Writer’s Workbook was released earlier this year. The author of the workbook, Stan Krantman, sought out instructors with specific knowledge in the field to assist him in reviewing the textbook before its release. Four of the six instructors acknowledged for their contributions teach at Hickey College.

The book addresses all aspects of a job search. This includes a focus on career objectives, tips on writing cover letters, advice on networking and interviewing skills, and effective resume writing in both paper and electronic forms.

The acknowledged Hickey College instructors include Jeff Appel, Robin Delaney, Rita Springer, and Julie Stewart. “I was happy to have a chance to add my opinion,” said Appel, “and I really feel lucky that they were so willing to listen.”

These instructors teach courses designed to prepare students for a job search. They work with students on a regular basis to help them fine tune their interviewing and resume writing skills so that they may be recognized and hired quickly. The instructors’ day-to-day work in this area helped them to provide constructive comments and suggestions to the textbook’s author. “I’m glad that my message that there was a need to modernize the information seemed to get through,” said Appel. “The basics of the job search have not changed, but the technology, as a tool, has. I just feel that technology is great if used properly.”
