H&R Block Collects Donations for St. Louis Area Foodbank

Block Out Hunger food drive runs through March 10

(St. Louis) – More than 85 H&R Block tax offices in metro St. Louis have partnered with the St. Louis Area Foodbank to be collection sites for the Block Out Hunger food drive.

Suggested donations for non-perishable food in non-breakable containers include protein, fruits, vegetables, grains and baby products. Additionally, donations are accepted online through the Foodbank’s website (http://www.stlfoodbank.org/Donate/HRBlock.aspx).

“Many of the pantries that we serve are reporting record numbers of people in need of food assistance,” said St. Louis Area Foodbank spokesperson Ryan Farmer.  “The food and funds collected through H&R Block’s Block Out Hunger’ drive will go a long way to helping our neighbors in need throughout the bi-state region.”

Donations of all sizes are gratefully accepted; $1 provides four meals. St. Louis area residents are welcome to bring food items and make contributions through March 10.

“Giving back is part of H&R Block’s culture. Whether it’s free tax advice, a community service project or a financial donation, H&R Block invests in the communities it serves,” said Marie Drezek, H&R Block district manager. “We are honored to partner with the St. Louis Area Foodbank for the Block Out Hunger food drive.”

H&R Block employees also have committed to volunteering at the Foodbank two days and making a monetary donation.
