Huuskos and Babcock Presented with Schwaner Award

The Helen Schwaner Faculty Professional Development Award was presented Nov. 5 to Rossman School physical education teachers Jenna Babcock and Larry Huusko.

In 1996, the Cummings family established an endowment to fund this award, which is given annually to a member or members of the Rossman faculty. The intent of this award is to provide opportunities for furthering their professional development and enhancing classroom and extracurricular activities. The Cummings family is related to the late Helen Schwaner, who founded Rossman School with Mary Rossman in 1917.

Babcock and Huusko will use the award to purchase an auto belay system for the school’s rock climbing wall. This automated rope, harness and pulley system will increase use of the wall by eliminating the need for a teacher belayer.
