JDRF Honors Great Volunteers

JDRF Salutes April - National Volunteer Month

“Our volunteers make JDRF meaningful and relevant to everyone we serve in the Greater Missouri and Southern Illinois Chapter,” said M. Marie Davis, Executive Director.  “Of the 64,000 million people who volunteer every year in the U.S., we know our volunteers are simply THE best!”

JDRF relies on volunteers for all of the chapter’s successful events:  Walk to Cure Diabetes, Tee Up to Cure Diabetes, T1D and Me Annual Educational and Networking Conference, School Walks, mentors for newly diagnosed families, Walk Award Banquet and Spring Gala and each and every one of our Board members.

Professional photographers donate their time to chronicle our events and boy scouts to senior citizens handle all the chapter mailings - every letter and post card that gets addressed, stuffed and posted.   JDRF keeps more than 300 - long-term and skills-based - volunteers busy during an active calendar year.

The JDRF mission is "to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D (type 1 diabetes) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.”

JDRF is the worldwide leader in the fight against T1D and now has Chapters and Branches in most U.S. states and international affiliates in several different countries.  JDRF was ranked as an All-Star Charity by Forbes magazine in November 2012.

JDRF celebrates April as National Volunteer Month – a great opportunity to publicly thank and applaud all those who give back to the community in such a measurable way.
