Through the years research has proven that women are more prone to feelings of depression than men.
As a psychotherapist whose practice is comprised mostly of women, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has proven to be an effective method of treatment. CBT says that the messages we give ourselves determines how we feel. Hence, how we feel determines our behavior. It is on this premise that therapy is often based. For example, if I wake up and tell myself that I dread starting my day then I probably won’t feel like starting my day. However, if I wake up and tell myself that I can make today whatever I choose I will likely feel better about getting up. My behavior will reflect my feelings positively or negatively based on the initial message I give myself.
