Everyone likes to watch a parade, but being part of one is fun, too. And right now Creve Coeur Days is looking for individuals, organizations and companies who would like to participate in this year’s parade which will be held on Sunday, June 25. The parade route is the same as last year’s, on Ballas Rd. from Old Ballas to Ladue Rd., and will step off at 1 P.M.
A parade is made up of many kinds of entries and this year’s is shaping up to be better than ever. That’s the word from Patricia Cruz, Parade Chairperson. “We’re looking for marching groups of all kinds—boy scout and girl scout troops (cubs and brownies, too), church groups, schools, fraternal, athletic or social clubs, baton squads and any other kind of organization that would like to march as a group in the parade,” Cruz said. Participants needn’t be located in Creve Coeur but can come from all over the metropolitan area.
Musical entries are wanted--any kind including marching bands or drum and bugle lines, smaller combos. “We’ve had Dixieland style bands and small jazz combos, both walking or on flatbeds or floats,” Cruz said. Trucks or vans with loud-speaker music, or any other kind of musical group are desirable.

Classic or vintage cars are always in demand, or you can decorate the family car and participate. Vintage trucks and fire trucks, double-decker busses, and even company trucks or vehicles are welcome. “We’ve even had an airplane (grounded, of course,) a train engine, and the Schnuck’s giant cart in the parade. Any kind of novelty mobile unit can apply to participate,” Cruz said.
Floats are always welcome to show off an organization or company to an admiring public, as are cars containing queens or queen candidates, such as Miss Senior Missouri, or American Legion’s Miss Poppy, etc.

Clowns of all kinds, both individuals or groups, horse-drawn vehicles, horses and riders (must have own clean-up crew) and any other kind of entry may apply to participate. Previous parades have had Shriner mini indy cars, St. Francis of Assisi Spirit Drill Team, Sugarette Baton Corp, Jobs Daughters, and many others.
