A Picture is Worth … One Word!

Affton Elementary Student Received Plaque for Winning Artwork on Kindness

 

Lilli Perez, a student at Mesnier Primary Elementary, was one out of five winners that were chosen to showcase their artwork at the Holiday Reading Festival. The festival took place at Crestwood Court from December 2-4 of 2011.  

Students from across the Saint Louis region were asked to submit artwork illustrating important character traits such as responsibility, integrity, kindness and courage. Hundreds of students participated but only five lucky winners were chosen. The five schools from where students were chosen from include; Mesnier Primary, Crestwood Elementary, Northview Elementary, Eureka Elementary and Antonia Middle.

Perez was the first to be presented with  a plaque, that was engraved with her name and school. The first presentation took place on Friday, January 6 at Mesnier Primary, Affton School District. 

Perez’s teacher Christine Perko, proudly stated, “Lili is a terrific young lady, and a talented artist.  We are so proud of her, and her accomplishment.  Her drawing is a great reminder for all of us to show kindness.”

The pieces of artwork were chosen as the designs for greeting cards that were printed. The greeting cards are currently on sale by CHARACTERplus, a local non-profit that support teachers to create high-quality learning environments. To order these greeting cards, click here.
