Candidate Caldwell Addresses Council With Recommendations for the 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan

Ward 1 City Council candidate David Caldwell makes 3 recommendations to the City Council during its 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan public hearing Tuesday March 26

Β

The Creve Coeur City Council at its Tuesday March 26 meeting held a public hearing for the 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan.

You may see my actual address to the City Council in the video. I made three recommendations that should be included:

Β

  1. Build a sidewalk on Warson Rd. between the Danforth Center and St. Louis ARC
  2. Design and Fund streetscape improvements on Olive Blvd. in Ward 1
  3. Don't build the Public Works garage on Lindbergh Blvd.

On Warson Rd., people are walking on the street where there are three bus stops with no sidewalks or shelters. It's also a public safety issue. Focus on infrastructure needsΒ first before WiFi and transportation flyovers.

Olive Blvd. in Ward 1 needs streetscape work. The current effort to update the city's Comprehensive Plan must target making this area more inviting to businesses and residents.

Engineering studies and design work from New Ballas to Craig Rd. isn't enough - the eastern stretch of Olive Blvd. in Creve Coeur does not stop at Craig Rd. It needs to include all of Olive in Ward 1.

The proposal Public Works garage is a reasonable proposal but it shouldn't be built on Lindbergh Blvd. Real estate there is too valuable for a low-end structure when trying to lure high-end development.

I thank the City Council and city staff for hearing my proposals and urge them to include the three recommendations in the new 5 Year Capital Improvement Plan.
