Happy New School Year!

The new school year brings with it much of the same excitement and cause for making resolutions as the new calendar year.

Happy New Year!

As we quickly approach the new school year, I can’t help but feel much of the same excitement I feel as a new calendar year approaches.

The end of another calendar year signals a time for reflection on all that has happened during the previous year—all the challenges, celebrations, disappointments, and new learning.  It is also a time, after reflecting on the previous year, to make a resolution (or resolutions) for the new year.

Unfortunately, many of these New Year’s resolutions are forgotten within a few months . . . or for some, a few weeks.

Before the school year begins, take some time to sit with your child and reflect on the previous school year.

What were the challenges, celebrations, disappointments, and new learning that occurred during the 2011-2012 school year?

Then, assist your child in making a resolution (or resolutions) for the upcoming school year.  Unlike the New Year’s Eve resolutions that quickly fade away, let’s make a commitment to work together to support your child in sticking with these resolutions.

Dr. Marty, Parkway’s Superintendent, has shared his resolution for the new school year:  Brighter Futures and Higher Expectations for All by All!

The staff of Northeast embraces this resolution and we are committed to holding one another accountable to following through on this!

Enjoy these final days of summer.

Sincerely,

Kim Brandon
